around the world with fPOE ... this week it's Edinburgh, Indiana, USA

So last week we headed up to West Warwick, Rhode Island & saw so much beauty in the surroundings of Mary Vican. This week I'm off to Edinburgh, Indiana to check out the world of Mandy Bryant & wow it could it be any more different!

Mandy's photography seems to focus on her immediate world, the things she has in her home, everything is so very personal. Mandy is a huge fan of vintage & bold colours, you can see it in both the objects within her pictures & the style themselves. There's so much pretty going on leaving you unsure of where to look next, & so many tiny details put together in an extraordinary way.

& even when she moves outside of the house the basic concepts remain the same. She still picks up on those tiny details, focusing in such a way that your eye is drawn into the picture completely, you are left unable to look away from her focus.

So simple ... & so so stunning ...

all things polaroid ... i simple love her "collection" inspired prints.

As usual all the prints you see here are available in Mandy's shop, & you can also check out more of her work over on flickr & her blog

around the world with fPOE ... this week it's West Warwick, Rhode Island, USA

The thing about the Female Photographers of Etsy is that whilst we all come together to discuss photography, share ideas & hints, promote each other, advise & be there for each other we are all over the world. We are inspired by many many different things. So for a while i've been wanting to do this feature, to share it both on my personal blog & the fPOE blog. It's a chance to see the world of fPOE, of course through their lens.

This week we're off to West Warwick, Rhode Island, USA (high up on the east coast is all i know) to check out the wonderful work of Mary Vican.
I've travelled all over the US, but i've missed the north east, & every time i see photos of the area i wish i could be there. The coast line is stunning & Mary portrays it perfectly. As i look through her work i wish i could transport myself there, there's an immense feeling of peace & tranquility about her work. & you can see her love for it in her work.

I love the symplicity of the image above, taken off the docks in Jamestown, it has a minimalist feel to it. & the linear aspect is something that always draws me in as an artist. Throw in the black & white & you can help but want to hang this picture on your wall & gaze at it for hours.

But her landscapes don't just focus on the water, she shows us beauty that's all around her.

But even when she ventures away from her surrounds to bring us still lifes, the peace still remains. Mary's photography has an eternal quality to, these are pictures that will speak to us for years to come & never loose their appeal. They bring back childhood memories, feelings & emotions you thought you had forgotten. It's as if you've stepped into the photograph, can feel & hear, touch & smell all that is around you ...

... a perfect summers day ...

... a perfect flower ...

... the energy of the fair.

All the images i've included in this post are available for sale in Mary's etsy store. You can also view more of her work on her blog & her flickr page. Mary also has a buy one get one free offer currently running through her shop.

the lovely Nelou ...

So my saturday was free from plans ... husband was working & i had no errands to run. Back in April i took part in a wonderful workshop put together by the Boudoir Divas. I learnt so much & got a chance to do some Boudoir of my own. Well since then i haven't done anything, mainly because i was scared of taking the risk. Sounds stupid but i was. The stupid thing is i love boudoir more than i do some other kinds of portraiture, i feel like it allows me more freedom to experiment & have fun. So a wonderful friend of mine willing let me "experiment" with her (& she had some wonderful ideas herself, not to mention a stunning house). So here's a few of the photos from our shoot ... a big thank you Nelou for being a willing victim in my quest to discover what i love.

So i've been totally flaking recently ... i won't lie life has been & still is a little all over the place. There's been a whole lot going on in my little bit of the world & something's have been put on the back burner. Fingers crossed i will have some news to share soon but for the moment i hope you can be a little patient I'm hoping to get back on track.

Anyways here are a few whole lot of photos from provence ... to be more specific Parc Naturel Régional de Camargue (i fell in love with this place many years ago & couldn't wait to go back with my camera), Saintes-Maries-de-la-MerLes Baux de Provence & Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
