that friday feeling ...

Yes it's friday ... that means tomorrow is saturday & the weekend! Ok so my days of the week are currently all over the place & honestly it's been a long time since i've worked a monday thru friday schedule so really "it's the weekend" mean's nothing to me. Plus being married to the military kinda throws most things out the window.

So it's been a crazy busy week in one sense ... lots of shoots, random errands & some running around ... but not so bad that i feel all over the place. I do have a busy weekend ahead but i am excited ... 2 shoots on saturday both up in the wild flowers (fingers crossed for great weather) & an open house sunday. Phew but i love being busy. What do you guys have planned?

Anyways i'm going to leave you with a couple of images from last weekend's trip to Garmisch & a reminded to check out the post about "the nelou & laura show" ... we're hoping to get started next week & need all your ideas.

Since me & the hubby some how still manage to have crazy busy & opposite schedules we're getting out of town for a few days of family time & pretty picture taking. Anyways i hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

ps. my wonderfully talented friend Nelou has recently opened her photography shop on etsy & is hosting a giveaway on her blog ... worth checking out!

the weekend ...

It's a new month ... new beginnings, new ventures & directions! I was lucky enough to win the Boudoir Divas workshop contest (thank you so much to all those who voted) which was a wonderful wake up for me yesterday, much needed. & now i am getting ready to head out of town for the weekend with my (wonderful) husband & i'm excited to get away from it all, spend some much needed time together & of course take many a photograph. I have a number of projects going on, challenges to keep the cogs turning & i'm listing new items in the shop. I am also hosting a giveaway on the Funky Finds blog so stop by for a chance of winning.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend where ever you are in the world ... enjoy the ones you love & have some fun!
ps. i wanted to say something about freedom here but couldn't quite put it into words!

my weekend ... part deux (that's two in french if you didn't catch part one)

So it's time for part deux ... on Thursday as predicted! Oh & it also happens to be day two (we'll skip over the night part of day one) & so after a highly expensive hotel breakfast we headed over the bridge to "ye old town" of Salzburg. Which is all kinds of pretty. Lots of little cobbled streets & funny shops not to mention some amazing architecture. On the downside it has that whole tourist thing going on which destroys some of the illusion that you create in your mind when visiting a city such as Salzburg.
Don't get me wrong the city is stunning but as with everywhere full of crowds you never get to appreciate it quite the way you would should you be getting the opportunity to explore it yourself.
We visited the museum of modern art (it came highly recommended ... we found it over priced & a waste of time except for the gorgeous view from the top) ... the castle ... & wandered around the city. & yes as you can see there were photos & some wonderful architecture & detail you don't find in newer cities.
Lunch was had at a typical Austrian/German style tavern ...
& followed by more of that wandering i talked about before. oh & i should probably bring up the whole Mozart thing since he is Salzburg's most famous export ...
So that pretty much sums up our dead ... no one died ... i got to visit a new country & the alps were definitely something else, if nothing they are worth a couple of hours of your time.
& here's where i say "stay tuned" for part three ... that is the drive home! now i know you're all kinds of excited & trying so hard to contain your excitement!

my weekend ... part one

So this past weekend me & the hubby had the opportunity to escape from it all for a few days ... & of course the camera came along! We were heading down to Salzburg, a city in Austria about 5 hours south east of where we live, right on the border. Part one ... (that would be this part) is the journey down there & day one of our 3 day trip *trust me you will see a pattern emerge).

We left out home to grey & snow at some silly hour of Friday morning ... & didn't forget a thing. We were about 45 minutes late leaving but i hold the hubby responsible for that (nothing to do with my inability to get out of bed).

The journey down was uneventful ... we survived without permanent injury to each other & only one "photographic" break as i bugged the hubby until he would pull over & let me photograph the wonderful frost on the trees. It was gorgeous but sadly a German toilet stop is not the place to be wondering around with thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Plus it was all kinds of snow & i had no gloves. But the stop was worth it (well i think so).

From here we headed down to Konigsee, the highest lake in Germany & somewhere i have been wanting to visit ever since i saw some friends photos. Here we found a whole lot more cold, not a whole lot was open & the mist rising over the mountains ... but i persevered & managed to knock out a few more photos (acceptable i would say ... hehehe) & we made plans to head back in the spring/summer time when the weather is a little more compliant!

& from here it was on to Salzburg ... stay tuned for part deux (that's two for french in case you wondered) which i plan on writing tomorrow so lets assume it will appear Thursday!

my weekend ...

It's sunday night & it's been a looooooooooong (use of "o's" for emphasis) weekend & now i'm looking forward to some quality me & camera('s) time the next few days. But briefly i had my first craft fair & whilst it was small it was fun, i made a bunch of sales, got a lot of people looking at my work & gave out a whole lot of cards. To say i'm pleased is putting it mildly as it went way better than expected & now i'm excited by the next one in november & thinking of ways to improve my owe so basic set up. Any suggestions on this one would be gratefully received!

& secondly i got third place in the base photographic competition, "people" category. I am happy as anything with this (my first ever competition) though some of the winner's were interesting to say the least. I've learnt a little more about the competition & feel in some of the other categories prizes went to more "classically" good images. But anyways i'm still incredible happy & waiting to find out if my image will go on the Af competition, fingers crossed on that one.
