step one ...

So i have this sudden desire to create amazing landscapes ... maybe it's the snow or my recent post about Jennifer Squires Ross but i want to create some landscapes to be proud of. Well this evening i finally got to see snow (more than just a dusting) & so i took a walk with my camera & tripod in an attempt to get something vaguely pretty. Landscape has never been my forte & night time photography something  have no clue about. So anyways what i really need is help ... photographers who's work i can study, books to read, websites or just suggestions, hints & a how to guide for dummy's beginners!

To all those who celebrated thanksgiving i hope you had a fabulous day & to everyone have a wonderful weekend.

a little bit of amsterdam ...

So i've been slacking with my posts ... & whilst i've been trying to find something to write about that isn't me (though i know you all love to read about me) i haven't found something i really love so insted you get to see my photos from amsterdam ...

Everyone know's Amsterdam is famed for both it's canals & of course it's redlight district.

This little kittie was sitting chillin in a window above a cafe, opposite the restaurant we were eating at ... i couldn't resist.

We went to the Artis Zoo, & of course i had to take some photos.
& finally our canal trip ... it was night & well i had limited options for taking photos. This one i got lucky with as the boat stopped moving for a few minutes.

But generally i just decided to have some fun with long exposures & the many many lights out on the canal.

working on photos for etsy

so you'd think it would be easy to pick the photos i want to sell but there are so many things i have to take into account & so often i worry as to whether "everyone" is going to like something when really i already know that everyone is different & i don't want to aim my photo at "everyone". I mean obviously i want something commercial but i don't want it to be something you can buy at ikea, mass produced world wide. I want my images to stand out, have that little something that makes people want to hang it on their wall. So in this vain i'm not just picking out the images i like, i'm picking out those i think others would like too but don't all fall under that umbrella of mass produced pretty pretty same same (that's my term for it). So here's a few of the one's i'm currently working on. I hope they're all a bit different, like the variety bucket at kfc!
